Detailed information:

Life type: deciduous shrub;  Plants: up to 10 m, much branched;   Stem: bark taupe, lenticels obvious;

Branches: branchlets coarse, leaves alternate, thickly papery, broadly ovate, 10-20 cm long and wide, palmately 3-5-lobed, lobules ovatewith irregular obtuse teeth, scabrid above, densely campanulate and gray pilose below, base shallowly cordate, basal veins 3-5, lateral veins 5-7 pairs; Petiole thick, 2-5 cm long, stipules ovate-lanceolate, ca. 1 cm long, red;   Flowers: dioecious, male and gall flowers coextensive with the inner wall of a banyan fruit, male flowers terminal,perianth segments 4-5, stamens (1) 3 (15),Gall flowers,style short, lateral, Female perianth with male flowers, style lateral, stigma 2-lobed, linear;  Fruit: figs solitary in leaf axils, pyriform, 3-5 cm in diam.,apically concave, purplish red or yellow when ripe, basal bracts 3, ovate,achene lenticular;   Deomestic origin: China's Tang Dynasty that was indroduced from Persia, North and South are now cultivated, especially in southern Xinjiang.
